  1. There is one of alternative choices in natural therapy by using leeches which is still a controversial technique to cure patients in many ways.
Personally, I have never experienced the therapy by using leeches. I only notice by read articles that how biological quality of leeches advantages to be cured patients in some diseases.
Some experts reported that this is a good method by using leeches to remove died skins in clients who had wounded conditions such as surgical wounds, infected wounds, and so forth without painfulness while leeches are sucking the wounds. In contrast, some people have some questions about how many those leeches are cleaned before curing them compared to sterilized medical equipment which is so cleaned that able to totally killed bacterial, viral, and fungal in the modern procedures. Furthermore, there is inevitably that nowadays transmitted diseases are rapidly rampant (HIV, AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis, and so on) in order to protect those ailments. However, if the choice is going on to adopt, it would be concerned that how officers feed the leeches because they consume animal’s blood where they acquire the blood from to care for leeches. As far as I am concern, what is the proper space of time to use them clean the wounds or dispose them after utilizing just one time, and what is executed method to be done.
To sum up, there is a sensitive issue to use animals in term of medically alternative choices because of no obvious evidences which can be proved that they are not be carriers of continuous diseases. In addition, the ethic is a vital condition which should be considerable when animals are used by man.

    1. Insightful reflections , AEW. There are no doubt a number of procedures that have to be decided upon before leeches are used in a hospital. No doubt those who have successfully used leech therapy will have outlined a set of 'best practice' procedures, so I imagine that it is to them we must turn for clarity on this issue.

    2. I would like to resist totally about using animals as same as they were medical tools.
the first reason, these day, the revolution of the nano-technology be able to explore the obviously fundamental structures of molecules which impact positively to apply the best material for curing patients in term of enormous effectiveness and high safety (no more harm). In addition, medical services widely provide as around the corner in the 21 century. Human should utilize those medical methods rather than exploit animals. Another reason is that using animals are controversial issues which contain both medical ethic and ensuring outcomes of the treatment by animals. Moreover, I notice that patients so suffer from physical illness that no need to increase a psychological irritation such as repulsive and offensive feeling from the movement of leeches.

  2. Although leech therapy can be used effectively for the management of various disorders, this procedure is not significantly popular in Thailand. In my opinion, if the quality of control is managed properly, this kind of animal therapy is dramatically useful in formal treatment in hospitals.
Alternative medical treatment as the leech therapy has become more wildly used in many counties. This technique is usually practiced for plastic or reconstructive surgery nowadays. In terms of efficacy, not only leeches are low cost to buy, but these worms also nurture easily and cure effectively. However, leeches appearance is quite repulsive. It is unable that how much patients are disgusted while they are attaching their skin. Moreover, there are some harmful problems of leech therapy resulting in effectiveness of treatment, bacterial infection, allergic reactions, out of control, unnecessary blood loss and so forth, for example. Thus, the quality of this alternative treatment will be suitable, if there must be standard operational procedure for controlling of the practice as well as there must be close monitoring of the circular system.

  3. Leech therapy is an acceptable alternative therapy for people with vascular disorders. Nowadays many studies have shown that leeches have been successfully used in medicine, especially in plastic surgery. For example, it helps the body to heal more naturally and completely after surgeries, it improves inflammation and blood flow in people with heart disease, it keeps blood flowing to wounds to help them heal and so forth. On the other hand, there are some complications of leech therapy, such as excessive blood loss and infection.

I have not experienced leech therapy in my field, but there was maggot therapy in my hospital about 5 years ago. Maggot therapy is the curative use of live blow fly larvae to treat skin and soft tissue wounds. The physicians used it in diabetic foot ulcers for the purposes of cleaning out the dead tissue within a wound and disinfection. Nevertheless, they stopped using it after a few months because of some limitations and inconveniences of this practice. For instance, not all wound-types are suitable for maggot therapy, patients and staffs may find maggots distasteful, and dressings must be designed to prevent any maggots from escaping.

In my view, leech therapy and maggot therapy could offer patients as an alternative therapy, especially for people who prefer the natural method or non-surgical method. However, we should develop techniques to farm leeches or maggots to ensure their sterility, guidelines to prevent the risks of treatment and more convenient procedures.

    1. An interesting response. I personally feel quite repulsed by leeches, and even more so by maggots. I wonder if I could overcome my distaste if I felt they could help restore my health?

  4. In my opinion, alternative biologic forms of treatments for healing the infection wounds such as apitherapy (application of honey), maggots, and leeches. In particularly, the treatment use by leech therapy is an interesting for me because they has been used as a treatment for chronic wounds, and they may be used to help improve blood flow in an area of tissue or skin flap that has poor blood circulation and removing clotted blood (congested blood) from delicate areas, such as underneath a flap of skin.Furthermore, they also appear to be more cost effective than other methods of wound healing. However,in Thailand is not popular because there has been no study on such this treatment while the research on apitherapy and maggots therapy uses in wounds are more studies than leech therapy. It seem to be that apitherapy and maggots therapy are acceptance to use in the medical field in my county more than leech therapy.

  5. Leeches therapy is an alternative therapies for healing patient’s wound from different causes such as a diabetic wound. From many research studies, Moreover, It is undeniable that leeches therapy have considerable benefits in remedies, especially surgeries field. However, leeches therapy has the essential complication that is not only blood loss from the function of leeches but it also is an infection in a wound area where is treated with leeches.

Actually, I had no experienced about leeches therapy but in some hospitals that patients in surgery word are cured their wound with maggot therapy, it is more quiet popular than leeches therapy. Maggot therapy is used for healing patient’s wound which has a dead tissue and used in hospitals which has a medical school. Meanwhile, the nurse function to care wound with maggot therapy is more difficult because nurses often must check the number of maggots in patient’s wound. Nurses also notify doctor for dressing wound because in hospital that I see, doctors must to dress wound by themselves. The result of treatments, while, are quiet success. Some patients is better bot others is not.

In my opinions, the both of leeches and maggot therapy are used in treatment in the similar way. Nevertheless, the result are still depend on any factors, for instance, doctor’s experiences, stage of patient’s wounds, even the patient’s feelings are an unacceptable treatment.

    1. An insightful response to leech therapy. No doubt the results depend on a number of factors: the expertise of the doctor, the nature of the patient's wounds and the feelings of the patient about the treatment.

  6. Leech or Hirudo therapy is an acceptable natural alternative therapy. In the present , many researches have shown that leeches have been successfully used in medicine . In the past, leeches have proved to be an effective treatment for a number of conditions including battle wound treatment. Currently leeches may be used to assist in the treatment of abscesses, arthritis, glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, thrombosis and some venous disorders. Medical leeches may also be used in plastic surgery and in some blood circulatory problems.
Personally, I have never experienced the therapy by using leeches in my field. However, in Thailand I know about maggot therapy only .In this case, some hospital that patient in surgery word are cured their wound with maggots because the larval stage of certain flies, are already a federally approved treatment for people with nasty bed sores, chronic post-surgical wounds and diabetic foot ulcers. Similarly, in the United States , the specially prepared maggots, typically of the green bottle fly, are used to "debride" wounds, feeding on sick tissue so healthy cells can move in and further infection is avoided. Maggot therapy was common in the United States in the 1930s but was replaced by antibiotics in the following decade or so. Now, with the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria including MRSA or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, maggot therapy is getting a second look. (courtesy of Monarch Labs; Irvine, CA)
In my view, Leech and maggot therapy are natural alternative therapy which beneficial treatment to help people who suffer from many diseases especially wound infection or vascular diseases. However, selection treatment should be consider with perfected wound clean, cost, circumstance of each countries, and ability of doctors and nurses to care patients by these alternative therapy in order to highest patients’ effectiveness .

    1. An appropriate use of a quote here. It was interesting to read about how maggot therapy is 'getting a second look' in the US.
You're right, the treatment is best used if the patient's symptoms and prognosis are carefully considered.

  7. The leech therapy is one of choices for treatments such as vascular disorder. There are a lot of charecteristics of leech are applied, researched and investigated. Moreover, the studies reported that patients got better their illness when they were treated using leech therapy. I have never known people who were cured with leech therapy before. However, in my opinion, some malady must be studied considerable for healing with leech therapy because some of recovery of the patients, were shown are the priliminary studies so this therapy should be meditated circumspectly to recuperate from diseases.
